Why I'm Starting To Write Online

Updated: Jan 11, 2023

I recently signed up for Dickie Bush & Nicolas Cole's cohort-based course, Ship 30 for 30.

Here are a few reasons why:

  1. Do something I enjoy more and get better at it.

  2. Build a habit of writing in public daily with accountability.

  3. Connect, collaborate, and explore with others.

Do something I enjoy, more.

I've been writing in private. Shhh… don't tell anyone. One September day, 70+ weeks ago, I decided to start a training series as a weekly newsletter (Wix Weekly).

As a web designer, my goal with this newsletter was to help remove the fear of technology for others. And, as a solopreneur, I wanted to help others bring intention into their own businesses. This way, they can design a business that works for them vs. the other way around.

I've never missed a week.

I enjoy writing, and I want to continue to get better at it. I'd also like to explore filmmaking (more on that later). Ship 30 for 30 will teach me, and others, practical methods for writing online.

I know that I will feel supported by this group, since they're doing the same thing. Plus, they will be sharing their feedback to help me improve. And, that's what I plan to do for each of them.

Build a habit of writing in public daily with accountability.

If my work for Apple showed me anything, it's that I am a tech enthusiast. I love exploring apps, creating new solutions, and beta testing products.

In 2019, I started a habit of opening Wix.com every day. I did this, because I wanted to learn how to design my own website and help others build theirs. Then the pandemic began affecting local businesses. So, I volunteered my services to build a website to support them during those hard times. I've learned so much since then.

Almost three years and 150+ projects later, I have become a Top Partner and one of 20 Community Leaders for Wix.

I'm so honored and happy. And, I want to keep growing.

In this cohort, my hope is to build on my love of: writing, connecting, and teaching. And, instead of writing in private… weekly, I'll be writing in public… daily.

I am committed to making this happen. Not only will this cohort help to keep me accountable… I know you will too.

Connect, collaborate, and explore with others.

This course has so many brilliant minds, bursting passions, and deep experience. I'm excited to learn, experiment, and create alongside so many wonderful individuals.

We get to explore being vulnerable together.

One thing I want to explore more is actually one of my biggest passions:

🎥 Filmmaking.

I've worked on films, made my own, and designed educational curriculum for film festivals.

Plus, as I shared above, I love to explore technology and help people build lasting brands.

It feels like a good time for me to combine these passions.

So, over the next 30 days, I plan on writing about independent filmmaking and technology.

As I do, I'd love to connect with you.

Join me on this adventure—and share your questions, feedback, and comments along the way!

I'm excited to start sharing and learning with you.

See you tomorrow. Matt Cici
